Is it just us or has life felt so heavy since the pandemic? Burnout is at an all time high, everyone is dealing with some form of depression and finding the joy and spark of life has been a struggle.
We get it, it’s been a wild ride these past few years but now more than ever is the time to develop the right habits and routines to balance out your work life from your personal life so you can start to find that spark within you again.
Here are our 5 tips to balance out with ease…
Your body adjusts much slower to the morning than you think. Opening up those pretty eyes and grabbing your phone immediately is doing yourself a disservice! We highly advise creating a morning routine that is slow and calm to get your brain acclimated to a new day that you can tackle with clarity and gusto!
Drink water right when you wake up, start the morning with aromatherapy, and avoid tech for the first 30 minutes. Instead do some gentle stretches, workout, read, journal or indulge in a nice breakfast that isn’t grab-and-go style.
How many times have you gone to check an email or a work DM and then you get sucked into the rabbit hole of social media mindlessly scrolling people lip syncing while pointing to words? No need to answer, we already know because we too are guilty.
By setting time blocks you begin to hold yourself accountable on the amount of time you are consuming versus DOING.
You can set these restrictions on your phone, you can set an alarm, or just pay more attention, but see how much happier you become by removing the addiction of cell phone activity.
Stop checking your emails after hours. I don’t care what profession you’re in. If you are not on call, let that be that. Separate the two and if you don’t work from home, keep work out of the home!
A two-letter word has never been so difficult to say but start getting comfortable with saying “no” to things. You don’t have to do it all and creating healthy boundaries will make you so much happier.
In addition, stop taking on more than you can chew! This correlates with the word “no”.
We are not built to be work horses glued to our screens every day! Taking time to rest and listening to your body is just as productive as checking everything off of the to-do list. Stop feeling guilty and start enjoying your down time!
